Hi, I'm Logan Brenner

I am an Assistant Professor in the department of Environmental Science at Barnard College in New York City. My research interests are rooted in paleoclimatology and paleoceanography, the study of past climate and ocean conditions. I use coral cores to answer questions about sea surface temperature, precipitation, and salinity. My study sites are located throughout the Pacific Ocean including major projects in the Great Barrier Reef and the Gulf of Chiriquí (Panama) with other work done in Tonga, Rarotonga, American Samoa, and Fiji.

In addition to my research I am passionate about teaching, academic policy, and science communication. It is imperative to be able to communicate to a broad audience in order to successfully share your message. Furthermore, I believe that scientists must take a more active role in standing up for science and evidence-based policies. My goal is to be a science ambassador, taking scientific principles and making them accessible, applicable, and enjoyable to learn.
